Young Paws Cat Rescue & Sanctuary began in our small home in Kerman, California. What started with a few rescued kittens quickly grew into a mission: providing safety and care for abandoned, neglected, and at-risk cats. With so few local resources for cats in need, we couldn’t turn our backs — so our living room became a rescue, and our dream became a sanctuary.
Kerman and the Central Valley face an overwhelming stray and feral cat crisis. Cats and kittens are often left without medical care, food, or safe shelter. With limited resources to help, many are left to suffer. Young Paws wants to help fill that gap — rescuing, rehabilitating, and advocating for cats who would otherwise be forgotten.
Our mission is to rescue abandoned and vulnerable cats, provide immediate safety and care, and work toward a dedicated sanctuary where every cat can heal, thrive, and live safely.
Our vision is simple: a future where no cat is forgotten and every life is valued. We’re building toward a permanent sanctuary — a safe haven where community cats can recover, thrive, and, when possible, find forever homes.
We’re still small, but our dream is big. With the support of donors, volunteers, and cat lovers like you, we plan to grow into a fully operational sanctuary — a place of healing, hope, and second chances for hundreds of cats in need.
So far, we've rescued and cared for 50+ cats and kittens from our home — many now in forever homes. Imagine what we can do with community support and a dedicated rescue and sanctuary facility. Every rescue tells a story of hope, and this is only the beginning. Together, we can save hundreds more.
You don’t have to rescue cats to change their lives. By donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing our mission, you become part of the Young Paws family. Every act of kindness helps us save more cats, give them the care they need, and move closer to building a sanctuary where every cat is safe, loved, and remembered.
